Polar Alca Maritime AB is a shipowning company founded in 2019. We, the owners, are a diverse group with extensive and vast experience within shipping as well as expeditions in the polar regions.

The ice-strengthened vessel is proven to be appreciated and well-known for polar region expeditions. Since the purchase of the vessel in March 2021, we have invested and upgraded the ship to comply with stricter safety regulations, a higher standard of comfort and a focus on sustainable practices. 

We strive to offer a vessel that enables our passengers a comfortable and safe stay on board Polar Pioneer while gaining an authentic and true experience of polar nature and wildlife.  The primary regions in which we operate include the Arctic, Antarctica and the British Isles. 

Polar Pioneer was re-introduced to the polar waters around Svalbard during the summer season of 2022, under our Scandinavian management. 
Starting spring 2023, Polar Pioneer will be running charters full-time, both in the Arctic and Antarctic.
